However, note that parts from different brands are not usually officially interchangeable within a ‘tested system’. Manufacturers such as British Gypsum design and test complete MF ceiling systems using only their own components, fixings and boards. This means that their official performance data for fire, acoustic and load capacity is based on that full system build-up.

This means that you can often physically mix MF ceiling materials, especially for basic installations, but you may find that doing so may invalidate system warranties or tested performance ratings.

6. Can you install lighting in an MF ceiling?
