The terms wallboard and plasterboard both refer to the same product: gypsum boards used for drylining internal walls and ceilings.

2. What is standard plasterboard used for?

Standard plasterboard (unlike specialist versions like acoustic, fire rated panel or insulated plasterboard ) is the basic type of wallboard used for most situations. Unless the job requires specific moisture, acoustic, or fire performance properties, standard boards are used.

3. Are all wallboards fire rated?

All plasterboard offers some fire resistance due to the gypsum core. Higher fire rating boards are available, designed with additives and tested as part of complete systems. Standard plasterboard fire ratings vary depending on the board’s thickness, for example 12.5mm boards typically offer around 15–20 minutes resistance.
