Closeboard fence panels

Closeboard fence panels are pre-assembled timber fencing sections made from vertical featheredge boards fixed to horizontal back rails and supporting battens. Commonly used in residential boundaries and light commercial applications, they provide a solid, private barrier. Modern panels are typically installed between timber or concrete posts, raised slightly above ground using gravel boards to prevent rot. Standard 6x6 sizes are commonly used.

These panels are supplied either dip-treated or pressure-treated for resistance to moisture and decay. Top edges may be straight or shaped, depending on the manufacturer. Unlike traditional closeboard fencing — which is assembled on site and allows each board to follow sloping ground — panel systems are rigid and must be stepped or modified on uneven terrain. Pre-manufactured panels offer speed and consistency, making them suitable for both new projects and fence replacement jobs where uniformity is required.
