A142 reinforcement mesh is a welded steel fabric used to reinforce concrete, helping it resist tensile stresses and control cracking. It’s made in a grid pattern from 6mm high-tensile steel bars in 2m x 3.6m sheets, giving a rough coverage of 7.2 m² per sheet. This is a light duty mesh for non-structural or lightly loaded concrete slabs, providing crack control but not structural capacity. Typical uses include patios, shed bases, and garden paths. A142 mesh is configured to have 142 mm² of cross-sectional steel area per metre in each direction, hence the name.
